The Devotion That Guides Us
Brahmashri Mayavaram Krishna Sastrigal
Vidya Paramaguru · A devoted servant of the Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham
The Trust’s heritage of devotion reaches back to Brahmashri Mayavaram Krishna Sastrigal, the maternal grandfather of Brahmashri Subbaraman Mama and a devoted servant of the Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham.
A revered scholar of the Vedas, he was honoured as the Veda Paramaguru of Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal, guiding him in his purvashrama as a young Vedic brahmachari, before the Swamigal ascended the Acharya Peetham.
His life of service to the Peetham — seen in the 1935 photograph performing abhishekam to the Kanchi Mahaperiyava at Kolkata — remains a guiding light for the work of Veda Rakshanam, and an enduring reminder of the lineage of devotion the Trust seeks to honour and continue.
Nithyagnihotri Brahmashri Gopala Dheekshidhar & Brahmashri Krishnamurthy Sastrigal
Brothers in devotion · Kainkaryaparas of the Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham
The Trust also holds in deep reverence two brothers whose devoted service enriches this same lineage — Nithyagnihotri Brahmashri Gopala Dheekshidhar and Brahmashri Krishnamurthy Sastrigal, fondly known as Chinnavadu.
Brahmashri Gopala Dheekshidhar carries the rare and sacred distinction of having performed pooja at the Mahaperiyava Adhishtanam for its first twelve years — an unbroken kainkaryam rendered with the discipline and sanctity befitting a Nithyagnihotri.
His brother, Brahmashri Krishnamurthy Sastrigal, stood close in service to the Acharya himself, seen here standing to the right of the Mahaperiyava — a quiet testament to a family whose devotion to the Peetham spanned generations.
Together, their lives of humble service stand alongside those of Brahmashri Mayavaram Krishna Sastrigal and Brahmashri Subbaraman Mama as pillars upon which the work of Veda Rakshanam continues to be built.
